What is the United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth? This program selects high school students from all over world and shows them the United Nations in action. The tour of the United Nations building includes behind-the-scenes briefings conducted by specialized agencies and departments. In addition to five days in New York that include the tour of the UN and visits to other significant sites in that city, the itinerary often includes tours of Washington DC, the Gettysburg battlefield, Niagra Falls, Ottawa Ontario, and Boston depending on the year. The United Nations Pilgrimage starts June 28, 2008 and runs for four consecutive weeks.. This year, Massachusetts will be sponsoring twelve delegates for the thirteen-day East Coast Tour that encompasses Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. Gettysburg, Niagara Falls and Ottawa and two delegates for the six-day Philadelphia and New York City tour. We would like to give special thanks to all the Lodges that have participated and have donated this year's United Nations Pilgrimage. The bus will depart from Hermann Dexter Lodge #133 in Dedham, MA on Saturday, June 28th and return on Thursday July 10th. The six-day Philadelphia and New York City Tour will leave on June 28th and will return on Thursday, July 3rd. The jurisdictions of Connecticut, New Hampshire and Rhode Island will be on our bus and we will be going to Philadeplhia, Pennsylvania where Walker Lodge will be hosting our tour on Saturday and Sunday. The delegates will be provided with hotel accommodiations, dinner at Walker Lodge on Saturday evening, breakfast at the hotel Sunday morning, a tour of historic Philadelphia afterwards, lunch and then off to New York City. Our tour will be on bus #3 and we will be joining the jurisdictions of Missouri, New York, Nevada, Oklahoma, Virginia and Iowa. Sister Patricia Coulsey, Past President of the Rebekah Assembly will be the lead Tour Lader on bus #3. Sister Pat has done this tour for several years and we appreciate her dedicated service. We are grateful to Hermann Dexter Lodge #133 and Walker Lodge for their continued support. We will be hosting the Pennsylvania and Delaware bus tour in July.
